Youth and Family Coordinator

First Union Church has ministered to the people of the Les Cheneaux Islands in the heart of Cedarville, Michigan for over 100 years.  Our 200+ member inter-denominational church has had as active youth and family ministry for several years with a full time staff position for the last five years.  We are and evangelical congregation with a ministry to people of all ages.

Our high school programs meet on Sunday morning (16 attend) and Wednesday evening (30 attend).  Our middle school group meets on Sunday morning (10 attend) and Sunday evening (12 attend).  Both groups enjoy fun activities, Bible study, singing and hanging out.

After school on Monday 40-60 energetic elementary children walk from the elementary school to our church to hear Bible stories, sing songs, and have fun.  We have a complete Sunday School program and Vacation Bible School.

1. Accountability
   The Youth and Family Coordinator will report to the church board and/or pastor.
    

2. Purpose and Priorities
   The Youth and Family Coordinator will seek, with God's help, to provide Christian guidance and discipleship to the youth and families of First Union Church.
    

3. Responsibilities
   A.  The Youth and Family Coordinator will guide the youth activities of our Church.
        1.  To develop intentional followers of Jesus Christ.
        2.  To develop adult volunteers for youth ministries.
        3.  To develop Christian student leadership in the Church.
        4.  To provide leadership and training to parents and families.
        5.  To encourage participation in Christina camps, retreats and missions.
        6.  To be involved in community youth functions. (Sports events, plays, concerts, read-a-thon, etc.)
        7.  To continually learn about youth and families by observing other church and participating in       training.
   
   B.  The Youth and Family coordinator will oversee the following ministries:
        1.  Senior High Youth Group
        2.  Jr. High Youth Group
        3.  Kids R.O.C.K. and KFC (elementary after school programs)
        4.  Confirmation
        5.  Vacation Bible School
   
   C.  The Youth and Family Coordinator will Chair the Christina Education Committee.
        1.  The Youth Director will teach a youth or adult Sunday School class.
        2.  The Youth Director will draft the budget for Christian Education.
   
   D.  The Youth and Family Coordinator will provide Christian care to the youth and families of the First Union Church family.
        1.  The Youth Director will provide caregiving for the youth and their families at First Union Church.
        2.  The Youth Director will provide encouragement for the youth through attendance and participation in community events.
   
   E.  The Youth and Family Coordinator will serve as the Church Van Coordinator.
   
   F.  The Youth and Family Coordinator will work with the Senior Pastor and church staff as needed.
